This Indenture made and entered into this 21st day of March A.D. 1838 between Joseph Griffy of the County of Anderson and State of Kentucky of the first part and David Griffey of the County & State aforesaid of the second part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of Eight Hundred dollars three hundred dollars by notes this day [Executed] and secured to be part, And five hundred dollars which the said Joseph Griffy gives the said David Griffy out of his estate after his death, and for the further consideration of one dollar in hand paid by the Party of the second Part the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by the Party of the first Part the Party of the first Part hath granted bargained and Sold, and by these presents doth grant bargain Sell unto the Party of the second Part his heirs and Assigns all that tract or parcel of land, situate, lying and being in the County and State aforesaid, on the waters of Salt River and Bounded as follows to wit. Beginning at ash and walnut Stump thence 67° East 139 poles to a Stone corner to Elijah Gudgell’s line, thence South 70° West 30 poles to corner four feet East of a large oak tree standing by the road marked as a Corner, thence South 71° West 18½ poles to a Stone Corner, thence South 24° W 57 poles to 3 Sugar trees growing out of one Root, thence North 63° West 137½ poles to a large White Oak & Red Oak, thence North 26° East 86 poles to the Beginning containing by Survey Seventy nine acres, to have and to hold the said tract of land together with all and Singular the promises and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto the Party of the second Part his heirs Executors and Administrators, and all the Estate, Rights, Title & Interest of the Party of the first Part against the claim of himself, his heirs, Executors and Administrators and against the claim or claims of all other person or persons Whatsoever, do by these presents forever Warrant and defend the said promises.
